{Colossians 1:9-10; NLT}
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

You are called to be part of the first fruits, even if the total harvest has not yet come.  You are to love your neighbor as yourself.  Ask God to fill your heart with a love for every soul so you will be ready to lay down your life for His sake.  Ask that your soul will continually overflow with love, a love which swallows up every kind and every degree of unholy temper. Receive this merciful love now, until He calls you up into the Heaven of love, to reign with Him through eternity.

John Wesley, The Sermon on the Mount, p. 100

Questions to consider:

  • What responsibility do we have as “first fruits”?
  • How can we grow in love and overcome sin?
  • Why is it important that we continue to grow?
