{Matthew 13:44-46; NLT}

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.

 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!”

Father in Heaven, I confess that I allow the things of this world to distract me from what is the most valuable.  My eye latches on to possessions, job opportunities, relationships, and other temporary things.  In the process I miss out on the wonderful joy that is found in being a part of Your Kingdom.

I plead with You to open the eyes of my heart to see the real and eternal value of Your Kingdom.  My eyes have been blinded to the real value of the Kingdom and I have been satisfied with lesser things.  Like a child satisfied with playing in the sandbox because he hasn’t seen the beach, I have been satisfied with this world because the Kingdom doesn’t seem real to me.

Fill me with joy as You give me a foretaste of what the Kingdom of Heaven is like.  May that joy grow in my heart so that I will value the Kingdom above everything else.  That is what I want!  I want to see the true value of Your Kingdom so that I will do whatever it takes to be a of it.  That is my true desire.

I pray all of this in the powerful name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior, amen.
