The purpose of the series is to give us a clearer understanding of God so we can have a better understanding of what it means to be His image bearers in the world. The goal in life is to demonstrate God’s character.
Based on Revelation 4:1-11, I emphasized that the main description of who God is that He is holy. Holiness means to be separated from the ordinary. God is separated from the ordinary because of His nature. He is eternal and He is the Creator. God is also holy because of His character. God’s love, mercy, forgiveness, and justice are different from the love, mercy, forgiveness, and justice that we know.
In 1 Peter 1:16 Peter wrote that we are called to be holy as God is holy. When we put our faith in Jesus God declared us holy, so we to are holy in nature. That means we are to live our lives as holy in our character. That is what the next three weeks are about: learning to be holy in our love, forgiveness, and justice.
Big Idea: We are called to be holy as God is holy.
Challenge: To read Psalm 19 and to look at the night sky and meditate on how awesome God is.
Listen to God is … Holy.
