Loving and honoring our Creator begins with an intention to worship Him. We may not feel like worshipping, but we commit ourselves to the acts of worship, thanksgiving, and prayer. I find that if I wait until I feel like offering praise it is rarely given. This is why it is important to be intentional about worshipping God.
I believe the foundation of this intention is in our commitment to attend corporate worship each week. If we are not intentional about setting aside one day a week to praise God, then it will be difficult to be consistent in our worship of Him.
This intentional weekly worship of God needs to overflow into a daily thanksgiving to God for what He has done for us. This doesn't mean that we set aside a time of singing each day, but it does mean that we spend time each day thanking God for His love, for His provision , and for His guidance.
As we follow Jesus this commitment to worship God will prove to be an essential discipline. Worship keeps us centered and focused on what really matters, no matter what we may be going through in the moment. Praise is the North Star of our hearts that allows us to reorient our lives. It is this reorientation that helps us remain faithful, no matter the circumstances of our lives.
Commit today to worship God.
