I have finished the first full day at the National Youth Leaders Convention. It has been very decent so far.
One of the truths that has hit me, and it has come out of the worship time rather than the speakers or the seminars, is that we need a greater awe of God. It is so easy to get used to Creation and Salvation that we don’t stand in awe of God the we that we should. At least that is that is the truth for my life.
It is so easy to forget what God has done and take for granted God’s love and blessings. I don’t know the best way to keep our awe. Perhaps it is as simple as keeping our focus and thoughts on God, meditating on His truth, character, promises, and blessings.
Isn’t it when we allow the things of this world to dominate our lives that we lose focus on God? Like Peter walk on the water, our eyes leave Jesus and become focused on the storm around us.
Mark Scott in his sermon tonight used Colossians 1:15-29. Here is the verse that stood out to me; “As a result, he has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault” (Colossians 1:22; NLT). Through the blood of Jesus we can be confident of our salvation. What an outstanding promise!
This is a wonderful reminder for me. I can stand before God blameless because of what Jesus has done! This is a great blessing God has given me!
