{1 Peter 2:9-10, ESV}
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

To you, O King, I pledge my life in humble and grateful service. You alone deserve my life for you are my Creator. Even when I joined in the rebellion against you, you redeemed my life through the death of Jesus. Not only did you redeem me, but through Jesus’ resurrection you instilled meaning and purpose into my life. I belong to you and I surrender my life to you.

Though I am a citizen of the United States that is not who I am. My citizenship is just another resource I have to be used for your Kingdom. I proudly declare that I am a citizen of a holy nation, a member of the royal priesthood of the Kingdom of Heaven. Father, use me as your ambassador in this world.

Lord God, I ask that you will unite your Church. It is easy for us to become passionate about politics and what we think is the best direction for the country. Remind us that your Kingdom doesn’t come though the politics of this world, but through the sacrificial love of the Church. That is why I ask you to fill our hearts with compassion and unconditional love so that we can be the beacon of truth and hope this world needs.

Thank you Father for bestowing Kingdom citizenship on me. Empower me with your Spirit so I can show the world what it means to be a citizen of your holy nation.

It is in the powerful name of my Lord and Savior that I pray. Amen.
